It has a phonebook with a capacity of 2000 contacts and connectivity-wise features a miniUSB port and a 2.5mm Nokia audio/video port. Being a lower mid-range solution, the Nokia 3500 classic offers a 262K color TFT display with a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels and it doesn't have a memory card slot. The nice thing about it is that it weighs only 81 g and is only 13,1mm thick (which is not bad for a Nokia handset). The Nokia 3500 classic is expected to retail at around EUR 135.

Sony Ericsson W960 Announced!

The Sony Ericsson W960 is the next Walkman in line but this time it's powered by the Symbian OS with the UIQ user interface - much like the W950 Walkman phone and all other Sony Ericsson smartphones. When it comes to size the new W960 is only by few millimeters larger than the original W950 while offering a number of hardware enhancements such as an integrated camera, double the internal memory and 3G support with video calls.

The 2.6" touchscreen 262K color TFT display with QVGA resolution plus the regular alphanumeric keypad and a Jog Dial allows for navigation that is flexible enough. The Sony Ericsson W960 boasts a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera much like the Sony Ericsson P1 smartphone but packs in 8GB of memory to store all your media files. There is no memory card slot but that would hardly make any difference with all that available space. The handset has UMTS 2100MHz and tri-band GSM/GPRS network support - no EDGE support is present. The Chinese version of the handset will have EDGE but no 3G. Other features of the W960 that are worth mentioning include Wi-Fi, stereo Bluetooth, FM radio and USB support.

When it comes to music capabilities the Sony Ericsson W960 has a new Walkman music player which can be operated with fingers easier than ever. The player also supports the SenseMe technology for filtering tracks by their designated mood. In order to enhance the music listening experience Sony Ericsson have decided to include the new stereo Bluetooth headset HBH-DS220 in the retail package.

The Sony Ericsson W960 will be available in Vinyl Black from Q4 2007.

SonyEricsson Unveils the new Walkman phone W910

Sony Ericsson broadens its portfolio in all directions with the official announcement of two new Walkman handsets, a new mid-range bar and a couple of Z-series clamshells.

The most exciting of the pack are definitely the new Walkman phones which as usual attract great attention among music lovers. The Sony Ericsson W910 is a HSDPA-enabled slider and comes with the version 3.0 of the Walkman player which means that Sony Ericsson have prepared a number of new treats to the users. The new feature Shake control will allow W910 users to skip tracks backwards and forward with a mere shake of their handset. A double shake back and forth shuffles the current playlist. The Shake control will add new dimensions to mobile gaming too. The Shake control will also be available on the Sony Ericsson W580 slider announced in March 2007.

The Sony Ericsson W910 comes also with the PC synchronization software called Sony Ericsson Media Manager. The first phones to use the new Media Manager will be Sony Ericsson W910, Sony Ericsson W960 and Sony Ericsson K850. Those three handsets are also equipped with a brand new media browser which replaces the well-known Sony Ericsson file manager. The Media Manager software allows for the next interesting feature expected in the Sony Ericsson W910 called SenseMe. The software automatically designates a mood to every track transferred to your handset based on tempo and style. Afterwards you can easily create your current playlist according to the mood you are in. SenseMe has an innovative visual interface representing tracks as dots in a matrix and positioning them according to the mood they've been designated. Up until now the only place we've seen mood filtering is the Sony Ericsson W950 smartphone, but now this feature is taken on a next level.

The Sony Ericsson W910 also comes with an updated version of the TrackID free service which not only gives you name and artist for a captured audio clip but can now also give you additional info on the artist and album. You can now make dedicated searches on an artist's name without even supplying the TrackID with a recorded sound.

Besides all that, the Sony Ericsson W910 boasts a 2 megapixel camera plus a secondary one for video calls and a really large 2.4" 262K color TFT display with a QVGA resolution. The W910 has stereo Bluetooth and FM radio and full UMTS/HSDPA 2100 MHz and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE network support.

The Sony Ericsson W910 will be available in Hearty Red or Noble Black from Q4 2007.

The all new K850!

The Sony Ericsson K850 Cyber-Shot is a tri-band HSDPA phone with 5 megapixels camera with flash.

Sony Ericsson K850 Cyber-shot(TM) phone
- 5 megapixel camera phone with Auto focus and Xenon flash
- Tri-Band HSDPA phone for high-speed picture and video blogging
- Advanced digital camera features - BestPic(TM), Photo fix and PictBridge

Beautiful images - The 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and Xenon flash produces true digital camera results. Even if you are not an expert photographer, the K850 does everything to help you get the best possible shots on your phone. Photo fix automatically improves light balance in one click to make your picture as good as it can get. When taking a picture of a moving object, for example at a sports event, you can select BestPic(TM) and take nine pictures in one burst. Then simply choose the best and delete the rest.

Beautifully simple - Increased functionality does not mean increased complexity. When in camera mode the K850's next generation camera menu makes it intuitive to scroll between functions like shoot mode and picture size. The lens cover retracts automatically with one press of the camera button and a new mode selector lets you switch quickly between camera, video and picture viewing modes. The regular phone keyboard also has a dual purpose; switch to camera mode and illuminated icons indicate which keys act as short-cuts for the digital zoom and other functions.

Easy to access - Beyond the camera, the K850 is a capable multimedia phone. The new media browser puts all of your stored media, whether photos, video, music or podcasts, in one place offering you a unique Sony Ericsson media experience. Scroll, sort and access your media from a single point in the menu. The K850 Cyber-shot(TM) phone also allows you to carry out an intelligent search to see photos by the month they were taken, view thumbnail images or scroll through in full-picture mode. With the new crystal display, the K850 offers optimal clarity from any viewing angle.

Easy to share - Once you have taken your picture it is easy to share the memory. If showing a photo on the K850's large 2.2" crystal bright display, the innovative auto rotate feature will display it in the correct aspect - portrait or landscape - irrespective of the orientation it was taken in. Picture blogging and video blogging allow you to upload your shots and footage at HSDPA speeds to your own blogsite.

Easy to pair - Given the premium look of the K850 Cyber-shot(TM) phone, you will want to match it with an accessory that looks just as good. Announced today as an optional accessory, the Bluetooth(TM) Headset IV840 fits discretely and securely into your ear. This high-performance headset can leave you handsfree for up to 9 hours of talking. It can pair automatically with the K850 for easy set-up, whilst digital noise cancellation provides for optimum sound quality. Sony Ericsson has now officially launched the W52S in Japan.

Available from June on KDDI's AU network, the biggest selling point of the W52S will, of course, be that 2GB chunk of flash memory, which is enough for close to 1,000 medium-quality tracks. Sony-brand in-ear headphones are included, as is the usual range of audio-enhancement technology. For the ¥25,000 (£105) likely selling price, there's also enough other gadgetry to make it easy to overlook the dowdy appearance of the new slider phone. Principal among these is the inclusion of an FM transmitter that allows the W52S to pipe tunes to a nearby FM radio, which is an oft-overlooked convenience.Advertisement Otherwise, the 130g phone sports a 2.7-inch Bravia LCD screen, a 2.1-megapixel camera, the usual IC-based e-cash and transportation-pass functions and both Memory Stick Micro and microSD card slots. Music playback time is rated at a very respectable 110 hours.

News: Nokia Countersues Qualcomm

Nokia Corp., the world's largest mobile phone maker, said Monday it filed a patent infringement countersuit against Qualcomm in an ongoing multinational legal battle over wireless technology.

Nokia, which filed the lawsuit in a Texas district court, is seeking damages and injunctive relief. The lawsuit deals with claims of unauthorized use of Nokia's Brew and MediaFlo patents, which allow fast, high-quality transfers of audio and video multimedia to wireless subscribers.

In April, Qualcomm Inc., the world's No. 2 chipmaker for mobile phones which licenses its technology patents, filed a patent infringement lawsuit in Texas against Nokia, allegedly involving certain types of mobile software download and execution environments.

San Diego, California-based Qualcomm's lawsuit said Nokia infringed on patents for phones that run on a standard known as global system for mobile communication, or GSM, which is prevalent in Europe and accounts for about two-thirds of all mobile phones.

Nokia said Monday it believes the Qualcomm patents are invalid, as the alleged inventions have been patented or published by other companies before Qualcomm. It also said it does not believe Nokia's products infringe any of the patents.

Shares in Nokia rose 1 percent to 21.12 euros ($28.21) in Helsinki.

'Nokia has a strong history of innovation in IP (Internet Protocol) broadcast television and mobile download environments predating Qualcomm's activities,' said Tero Ojanpera, a chief technology officer at Nokia. 'This is another example where Qualcomm has effectively copied Nokia's innovations.'

'We believe that, for MediaFlo to evolve and for Brew to remain viable, Qualcomm needs access to these and many other patented Nokia inventions,' he added.

Nokia said its patent counter-assertions are part of a response to the Qualcomm lawsuit filed in the Eastern District of Texas in April.

The legal skirmish dates to October 2005, when Nokia and five other companies complained to the European Union about Qualcomm's business practices. The commission is considering the complaint.

Besides suing Nokia in Texas, Qualcomm has also charged the Finnish company with patent infringement in federal court in San Diego, before the U.S. International Trade Commission and in courts in Britain, France, Germany and Italy.

Nokia said it has built one of the 'strongest and broadest IPR portfolios in the wireless industry' over the last 15 years through extensive investments in research and development and that it will continue to defend itself against 'the infringement and unauthorized use of its intellectual property.'

Improve Nokia N95 Ram issue

There seems to be an issue with the N95's RAM....There seem to be not enough of it available.

Many on the Nokia Europe Forum have been complaining about this, as the multitasking aspect of the phone has been constantly crashing, rebooting and has been giving the "low memory prompt."

Well, here is a few tips on how to rectify this issue....not 100%, but less frequent crashes.

1. BUY the application HANDY TASKMAN!!!!

2. Remove the application "SEARCH" from your phone completely. After it has been removed, (should you want too) reinstall it, this time on the MEMORY CARD instead.

3. Go to your APPLICATION MANAGER and do a scroll through....some applications are sometimes listed as "INSTALLED" but as you scroll through you may find that some of the applications listed as "installed" are also listed as "not installed" just delete the "not installed" files.

If all the above fails try these:

First connect your phone to your PC.

Using the DRAG AND DROP METHOD place all of your important information on your PC.(Apps, photos etc.)

***DO NOT USE THE CONTENT COPIER***

a) type *#7370#

This is called a soft reset. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE COPIED ALL YOUR IMPORTANT INFORMATION. Now proceed with step 2.....After you have reinstalled your applications, proceed with step 3. If this still doesn't rectify the RAM issue try

b) the 4 key reset....press and hold the * # 3 and green(call key) while powering your device on. (HARD RESET) Again remember to drag and drop all your info prior to proceeding with this reset. Again proceed with step 2 and then step 3.

again if this fails there is one more suggestion:

c) Reinstall your firmware......

Do your drag and drop info saving and proceed with step 2 and then 3 after firmware update.

Additionally, the Nokia 6500 slide delivers a refined tactile experience with its elegant brushed stainless steel finish and smooth slide mechanism.
The 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics found in the Nokia 6500 slide marks the first time that mid-range camera phone consumers have been able to experience the outstanding imaging capability of Carl Zeiss optics. The addition of autofocus, a dual LED flash and 8x digital zoom optimizes the Nokia 6500 slide for creating high-caliber images. Using the speed of 3G technology, these images and videos can be quickly shared with friends around the world, while the TV-out jack allows them to be instantly viewed on any television with standard RCA inputs. The TV-out feature can also be used to allow an entire group of people to simultaneously enjoy the fun of video calling.
Fashioned to stand apart from the crowd, the Nokia 6500 slide incorporates a number of design elements not often found in a mid-range device. Ensuring that the sophisticated brushed stainless steel body retains its timeless beauty, a unique hard coating helps to prevent scuffs, scratches, and even fingerprints. Precision engineering of the slide mechanism means that the Nokia 6500 slide feels solid in the hand, yet moves with a smooth, fluid action to create a decidedly upscale user impression.
The Nokia 6500 slide is expected to be available during the 3rd quarter of 2007 at an estimated retail price of €370 before taxes and subsidies.
