Sony Ericsson K770

Sony Ericsson today launched the Sony Ericsson K770, sporting a 3.2 Megapixel camera with auto focus and Photo fix. Weighing in at 95 g and measuring 105 x 47 x 14.5 mm, the K770 is a relatively sleek phone for the European market.

The K770's 1.9-inch screen (262K colors, 240 x 320 pixels resolution) becomes a viewfinder when the camera's lens cover is opened, offering a Cyber-shot based menu with eight lit 1-click shortcuts appearing across the phone keypad. The new Photo fix feature offers photo editing directly from the phone, aiming to enhance photos taken under poor lighting conditions. Photo sharing is also supported by connecting to a computer using the bundled USB cable, sending photos directly to a printer via PictBridge or uploading photos directly to an online gallery.

Equipped with a Memory Stick Micro memory slot, the K770 comes with a 256 MB memory card that stores up to 200 photos of the best quality. The memory can also be used to store music tracks, as the K770 offers both a built-in media player and Stereo Bluetooth (A2DP) support. When listening to music, the battery life should last approximately 10 hours, while the talk and standby times should be around 5 hours and 8 days, respectively.

When it comes to internet browsing, the K770 relies upon the Access NetFront web browser and a 3G (UMTS 2100 MHz) connection. The handset does however not support EDGE, so importers would be stuck with a GPRS connection for data transfer. In other words, the Sony Ericsson K770 is not the most obvious import handset.

LG KU990

Today LG officially unveiled the 3G-enabled quad-band LG KU990 Viewty, a stylish successor of the glossy LG KE850 Prada phone, featuring full touch-control interface and a 5 megapixel camera with xenon flash. The realization of the successful Black Label Series, now followed by this Prada line upgrade obviously traces out the LG efforts in manufacturing stylish phones, which sport up-to-date functionality and cool applications.

The LG KU990 Viewty has a large 3" 262K color TFT touchscreen display with a 240 x 400 pixels resolution and boasts a 5 megapixel camera with Schneider-Kreuznach optics and xenon flash, capable of shooting quality video clips with 30 fps. There is also a secondary VGA videocall camera as the LG KU990 features HSDPA 1.8 Mbps. It is up to the user to choose from shooting in auto focus or manual focus mode with ISO sensitivity of up to ISO 800. Storing images, tracks, clips or files is easy with the onboard 170 MB memory, expandable up to 2GB through the microSD memory card slot. Music fans will like the MP3/MPEG4 player and FM radio. The LG KU990 connectivity capabilities include Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support and USB 2.0. A major drawback is the lack of the long awaited Wi-Fi functionality. Furthermore, LG KU990 is tangibly thicker compared to the LG KE850 Prada and heavier by good 25 g.

iPhone Theme (240x320) for Flash Lite enabled phones (6300, etc)

Thanks to Aquafeya @ Zedge for doing much of the work...the icons, etc.

Thanks to Fliqlo for the Flash Lite Clock.

This theme contains iPhone icons, an animated Mac startup screen, the Mac startup sound, the mail sound for new messages, and a static orange Apple screensaver image by yours truly. The default ringer is a pleasing (to me anyway) "ringback"...the ring you hear when YOU call someone. Don't like it? Just change it.

Motorola Rokr U9

Phonescoop.com uncovers fresh news from Motorola. Announcement is due of a new addition to the ROKR series. The ROKR U9 is a music enabled clamshell taking after the PEBL. It features an external color display and music controls similar to the ones we have already seen in the RAZR2. Information about the new model's specifications is scanty, but a mini-USB slot is much more likely to be expected than a 3.5 mm jack. Given Motorola's choice of names, U9 coud easily be expected to be an exclusive, top-of-the-bill model.

The PEBL is another Motorola attempt to perk up the ROKR which are having a hard time getting a corner on the music-enabled phones market against the Sony Ericsson Walkman series and Nokia’s XpressMusic lineup.
